TFA Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the TFA?
A: The Fantasy Alternative, a live action role-playing group that has been in existence for over twenty-five years

Q: How do I join?
A: Go to any game and fill out the membership form on site. Presto, you are a member! OR for your convenience we have a PDF membership form on the "JOINING TFA" webpage. Just fill it out and bring it to the game you wish to play.

Q: Does the fighting hurt?
A: YES! The combat in some of the games can be rather rough. However, each game system has been played for many years and there have been very few injuries, mostly due to inadequate armor OR due to bad decisions like running over the top of a hornets' nest! Most of the time a few bruises and bumps are the most common "injuries" suffered.

Q: What if I don't want to fight? Can I still play?
A: YES! You do not have to be a combat character. There are many other types that can be played, and role-players that excel are often asked to play NPCs
(Non-player Characters). You can also play an AC (Actor Character).

Q: What if it rains or snows?
A: We play no matter the weather, unless the snow is so bad that we can not actually get to the site, or the storm hits and we need to pull, in which case fees are refunded. This has happened very rarely. Just dress for the weather and play on!

Q: I want to play only certain types of games. How often will you do Aether Anomalies or Dry Gulch?

A: Most of the games are on a rotation, based on the response or feed back from the membership. IF you want to see us play a game more often, get your friends to join and have them request it as well. We will play what the members ask for.

Q: I want to play more games! Is there only one a month?
A: At this time we are only playing one PUBLIC game per month, until we see the response from the general public. As the demand grows we will increase the game and special event schedule.

Q: I want to play a game that has levels and rewards for what I do. Do you have that kind of game?
A: Yes we have games that allow you to grow in abilities and power. But those games are on going and much more complex. TRIAD is our flagship fantasy game and has many levels of play for the more experienced role player. Hunter and Aether Anomalies both have growth for the character as well.
The Quest game has character development for the beginners and it allows for multiple stages of growth. But not all of our games are set up for folks to be striving to excel in power, but actually teach you to learn and use fewer abilities, better!
