General Information The Fantasy
Alternative Live Action Role-Playing Games are designed as a
full-immersion fantasy experience.
This requires COSTUMES.
We are aware that not everyone has the
capacity to build, sew, or make elaborate film or stage-quality
costumes, or afford to buy them.
However, basic costuming is required at all
games.
It is simple to come up with a basic
peasant-style costume, with T-tunics, gaiters, breeches, and moccasins
or boots.
Because our rule-systems for most of the
games stress that people in street attire are to be disregarded,
costuming is necessary to even be able to participate.
All of the rules have been
play-tested for years by hundreds of different players.
They exist for your safety, and to
facilitate your enjoyment and the safety and enjoyment of others.
You may find some of the rules to be
constraining to your creativity.
However, remember that there is nothing new
under the sun, and most everything has been tried.
More than once.
These rules were settled on as being the
most effective and playable, without forcing players to constantly
resort to consulting rulebooks.
Generally, common sense prevails. Just as with the rules, all the
weapons and weapon designs have been used for more than 25 years without
causing major injuries.
We take pride in our safety record and hope
(and intend) to maintain it.
It is for this reason that all
PVC-constructed weapons must be made by the TFA Armory.
Shinai, rubber daggers, rocko-sockos as
well as bows and arrows, may be purchased from various vendors, as may
armor and costuming.
A list of suggested allied vendors may be
found on our Members Only site. Requirements: Basic mobility is a
requirement.
Most of our games are played in rough,
wooded areas; either City, State, or The basic age requirement is 18
and over; special memberships for 16 and over are allowed if accompanied
by a parental or LEGAL guardian member.
Waivers must be signed and on file with TFA
before playing. The fee for playing individual
games is $20 for members and non-members.
Non-members may try a few games to see if
TFA is right for them.
However, they are restricted to playing ACs
(Actor-Characters), which bars them from combat of any type, or from any
interaction other than verbal.
Costuming is still required for ACs.
