The next public game will be scheduled shortly!

In the meantime, for those interested, here is the back story to last Saturday's game:

The Background Story...

Long ago in the land of Cascadia, on one of the main caravan routes, there was a small village.  Now, in this village there lived a man named Athelestan, who became a great adventurer.  In his many travels he discovered great wealth and powerful items of magic.  But he always yearned to return to his one true love, left behind in the village, because she was not able to leave the area and adventure with him. For she was a Dryad and bound to her tree forever....

The years passed, and Athelstan’s thoughts ever strayed to her...he grew weary of travel, and returned home at last to be with his love.  He spent many years with her; together they would walk the paths in the thickets and over the small hills in their valley.

But the lives of men are short compared to those of trees, and one day he died of old age.  Upon his death the Dryad formed a great crypt in the woods not far from her tree; there, she laid his body, carefully preserved, to rest with his many precious items and much wealth.  Time passed, and the village crumbled to dust, leaving only a small temple to mark where it had stood.

The tales of Athelstan’s wealth were many, and grew greater with each telling, and soon there came adventurers to loot his tomb. But the Dryad would not have it, and so she laid a great curse on the tomb and all of its belongings, in hopes that this would stave off the future looters.  And so it did for many years.  But one day, a group of adventurers managed to bribe one of the Dryad’s Elf servants.  The Elf led them to the tomb, which they looted, bringing down the curse upon themselves and all those in the area.  And a terrible curse it was, one which caused the tomb raiders to fight with each other, and then to flee into the woods with their stolen wealth, where they remain to this day.

Now the Dryad, seeing her handiwork, would have it all undone, for she did not wish to destroy her lands or its people...  But every time adventurers venture into the forest to find the missing items and those that took them, they do not return.  And so it is to this very day, with the valley turning more and more uninhabitable and those that live there unable to escape...for they are bound up in the curse just as any who dare venture there will be.
